Minister

Name: Nikki Watkin

About: Nikki was ordained as a minister in the PCANZ in May 1992 as was her husband Richard Ward who is a chaplain at Mt Eden Corrections Facility.  They have four children - three young adults, Natalie, Rebekah and Amelia, and Reuben who is at high school.  She loves spending time with family, anything creative, enjoying the fullness of life found in Jesus, and being part of the local community through church, friends, schools,  and the guiding community.

Nikki also chairs the Pastoral Care Committee at KPC.

Favourite Bible Verse:  That is a really hard question -there are so many parts of Scripture I consider favourites... but Psalm 84 is right up there... even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, a place near your altar...

Family & Communications Worker

Name: Amelia Watkin-Ward

About: Amelia has been involved at KPC since she moved to Auckland at nearly 2 years old. She is currently studying towards her masters and is a physiotherapist who also teaches jazz at cDa, a local dance school. She loves spending time with the youth of our parish, and seeing them grow and develop from mainly music and Young Church through to Compass and Young Church leaders.

Favourite Bible Verse: Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you’re in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn’t just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-5

Parish Council Chair

Name: Craig Prosser

Treasurer

Name: Shirley Yu

People & Culture Committee Chair

Name: Andrew Dodd

About: Andrew and his wife Jane have been attending KPC since 2013, and Andrew has served on Parish Council since 2017. He leads the People and Culture Committee responsible for bringing our church’s vision (Belonging, Believing, Becoming, Blessing) to life through initiatives that grow our people, both individually and as a community to become the Kingdom of God, promoting a deeper engagement in our faith, with each other, and increasing participation in the life of our church.

Andrew has a particular passion for helping people grow a more confident faith by demonstrating there are good, logical reasons and evidence for believing in the truth of the Christian faith.

Andrew and Jane have two adult children and two dogs.

Favourite Bible Verse: A verse that has strongly shaped my approach to faith is 1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts, honour Christ as the holy Lord, while always remaining ready to give a reasoned answer to anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” But if I had to pick a verse that best reflects my relationship with God, it would be one like Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Mission & Community Committee Chair

Name: Richard Ward

Building, Property & Finance Committee Co-Chair

Name: Mark Glasgow-Palmer

About:  I have now been privileged to have served as an Elder at Kohimarama Presbyterian for just on 15 years. My wife Alison and I have 2 lovely daughters, Katie and Sophie.

Growing up in Whanganui my brother and I started attending “ChristChurch” Anglican Church where I gave my life to the Lord, was confirmed and where we had a vibrant youth group that was eventually led by my Mum and Step Dad.

While at Auckland University I was part of Student Life Christian group and Glendowie Baptist however after leaving uni and working for a while my faith drifted and became less of a priority in my life. Although there was always God’s quiet voice telling me how much He loved me. Alison and the girls began attending KPC in the early 2000’s (Alison’s Mum and Dad, Norm and Jean Thom were married at KPC over 60 years ago!) and initially I would come along only very occasionally. You could say I was “CEP” (Christmas, Easter and Pentecost!)

However over time I could hear God speaking to me telling me how much He Loved me and how cool it would be to have a relationship like we once did! In the end God gently guided me back to a faith and a relationship with Him through and with my family and the people here at KPC.

KPC is a warm, family friendly, welcoming church where God's presence is readily felt across a wide age group! It’s really exciting to work with Nikki and the team on the Parish Council to explore, discern and deliver on God's plans for our Church and the community we serve!

Favourite Bible Verse:  It’s particularly hard to choose a favourite Bible Verse as there are so many awesome ones! For me, loving one and other and God is probably the most central part of my faith, and this verse from Paul’s letter to the Corintians always speaks so strongly to me.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
